Last Friday, mechanics from KJ completed repair work on the deck crane onboard the Greenlandic fishing vessel Polar Princess. Polar Princess is based in Nuuk, Greenland, and is owned and operated by Polar Seafood. The vessel was built at Orskov Yard in Fredrikshavn, Denmark, in 2000. It measures 87 metres in length, 15 metres in width, and has a gross tonnage of 3,787 tons.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Polar Princess arrived in the harbour of Kollafj\u00f8r\u00f0ur on July 19th, and the repair work commenced immediately. The slewing bearing and gears required replacement on the deck crane, necessitating the lifting of the 12-ton deck crane off its pedestal for the work to be carried out. Two large Palfinger cranes were utilised for the lifting process, and an additional Palfinger crane was used to hoist the new equipment onboard the vessel. All valves on the deck crane were also replaced, and other routine maintenance was performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A supervisor at Polar Seafood, reported that \u201cthe repair went very well, and we are very satisfied with the work carried out by KJ. The work took approximately 10 hours, and Polar Princess was able to depart from Kollafj\u00f8r\u00f0ur around 7 PM on Friday evening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KJ has a reliable team of skilled mechanics available around the clock for maintenance and repair of mechanical or hydraulic equipment and systems. The company also has a team of certified surveyors capable of inspecting rescue boats, davits, and cranes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
