Since delivering the first catamaran to Bakkafrost in 1999, KJ has built a total of 66 catamarans within this series. The latest, the catamaran Ennisskar\u00f0, the 36th for Bakkafrost, has now been handed over, ahead of the planned schedule.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final testing was completed aboard Ennisskar\u00f0 on Wednesday, and the vessel has now established its homeport in Hov, Su\u00f0uroy, Faroe Islands. It is expected to be used mainly for aquaculture operations in the southern fjords. The design, shape, technology, and equipment of these vessels have developed over time. Ennisskar\u00f0 is a sister ship to Mi\u00f0enni, delivered to Bakkafrost in December 2023. Both vessels are approximately 20 meters long and 9 meters wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ennisskar\u00f0 is a sizable catamaran with extensive deck space. It is equipped with two Palfinger Marine deck cranes, a 90-tonne crane at the stern on the port side, a 33-tonne crane behind the wheelhouse, and a 25-tonne deck winch. A coupling plate holder at the stern on the starboard side is also part of the equipment, helping to improve safety during operations involving coupling plates and other gear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a technical perspective, the vessel has two FPT C16 engines, each with 500 horsepower, along with two thrusters and two 115 KVA generators providing electrical power. It features dynamic positioning (DP) technology, which allows it to maintain its position reliably in challenging conditions, especially during winter months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the vessel was originally scheduled for handover in autumn 2025, it was completed in mid-July 2025, ahead of schedule. KJ congratulates Bakkafrost and the crew aboard Ennisskar\u00f0 on the completion of this vessel and wishes them success in their work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
