Handover of Heavy-duty catamaran workboat by kj to bakkafrost
FUGLAFJØRÐUR, August 02 – Yesterday marked a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between Bakkafrost and KJ, as KJ’s latest heavy-duty catamaran workboat, the 64th model, was officially handed over to Bakkafrost. The event, held in Fuglafjørður, was attended by representatives from both entities.
The workboat, measuring 16 meters in length and 8 meters in width, immediately embarked on its maiden voyage towards its new home at Árnafjørður in the Faroe Islands. Fitted with two Iveco C13 engines, each boasting 500 horsepower, a bow thruster, and a 65-ton meter crane from Palfinger, the catamaran is well-equipped for its duties.
Jón Purkús, Head of Farming North at Bakkafrost, expressed satisfaction with the new acquisition, praising the catamaran workboats from KJ for their stability, ease of navigation, quiet engines, and spacious deck.
KJ’s catamaran workboats have been on the market for several years, enjoying high demand within the salmon farming industry. With customers stretching from the Faroe Islands to Iceland and Scotland, KJ’s reputation for reliable and efficient workboats continues to grow. Each boat’s hull is constructed in Poland, with equipment and system installations completed in the Faroe Islands.
In the near future, KJ will be delivering another one of their well-regarded catamaran workboats to a client in Iceland. This testifies to KJ’s growing influence and reach, extending beyond local waters and into international territories.
