Completion of Phase 1: Nauteyri Construction for Háafell
KJ is proud to announce the completion of phase 1 of the land-based farming site expansion for Háafell in Nauteyri, Iceland, marking a significant milestone in their longstanding partnership.
KJ, having operated in Iceland for several years, has positioned this project as a pilot site, marking a cornerstone in their strategic developments within the region. The initial phase features a hall with a capacity of 2,400m3, where KJ contributed by installing pipes, handling all plastic welding, and supplying and installing the technical equipment. This inaugural phase has been successfully executed, with Háafell now in the process of testing the new facilities. The project is advancing swiftly into its second phase, wherein the groundwork piping is complete, and the building’s construction has commenced.
Gauti Geirsson, CEO of Háafell, has expressed satisfaction in collaborating with KJ, remarking, “We were happy to secure KJ as a main supplier for pipes and technical equipment for our new site. We have had a business relationship with KJ for 20 years now, where they have made cages and boats for us, so we know them really well.” He further added, “The co-operation has been successful as before.”
In addition to this successful construction endeavor, KJ has recently delivered a new catamaran, Kofri, to Háafell in January 2023. The vessel, measuring 15m in length and 8m in width, is the 61st catamaran in KJ’s series. Adding on to this, KJ has been delivering robust and industry-leading farming pens to Háafell during these past two decades as well.
Further solidifying their presence in Iceland, KJ’s sales representatives and project managers will attend the Lagarlíf aquaculture conference in Reykjavik this week, focusing on the Icelandic salmon farming industry. KJ invites participants to visit their stand at the conference for further discussions and engagements.
